Real experiences from real customers who hired with us.
Booked a Renault Clio for Tivat in two clicks. The supplier met me at arrivals, on the road in minutes. Drove the entire coast down to Ulcinj, incredible value.
Booked a small SUV for ten days. The Bay of Kotor road, Lovćen, then over to Žabljak, every drive was worth it. Pickup at Tivat was painless.
Came for a wedding in Budva and ended up extending the trip. The car let us see Sveti Stefan, Stari Bar, even cross into Albania for a day. Friendly handover, no surprises on return.

Insurance is selected during booking. Four tiers cover the full range from free third-party-only to the no-deposit, no-liability top tier we recommend for canyon and mountain drives.
Third-party liability only. Around €100 cash deposit at pickup.
Adds limited collision damage (CDW). Same €100 deposit.
Adds glass and wheel damage (SuperCDW). Same €100 deposit.
No driver liability for accident damage. Deposit waived entirely.

Narrow, twisty shoreline road from Herceg Novi to Bar via Kotor and Budva. Allow more time than mapping apps suggest in summer.
Faster two-lane asphalt through Cetinje and Podgorica. Watch for slow agricultural traffic and speed cameras outside towns.
Steep gradients, hairpins and unguarded edges on Lovćen and the Tara and Morača canyons. Winter Pack tyres needed November to March.
White zones in Kotor, blue in Budva fill fast in summer; use the marked car parks below the walls. Free at airports and supermarkets.

Common questions before booking a Montenegro car rental: prices, insurance tiers, deposits, age requirements, cross-border Green Card permits and more.
Daily rates start from around €20 across 375+ cars in the local fleet. The final price depends on car class, season, dates and your chosen insurance tier. Rates are identical at every pickup point in the country, so where you collect from is a convenience choice, not a price lever.
Yes. Every car carries the "No credit card" tag; booking and the deposit can be paid in cash, debit card or crypto. The standard cash deposit at pickup is around €100 on the lower insurance tiers, and the Full Coverage Plus tier waives the deposit entirely.
Tivat (TIV) is the more convenient choice for the coast: Kotor, Budva, Sveti Stefan and the Bay of Kotor. Podgorica (TGD) suits inland and northern destinations and is the bigger of the two. Daily rental rates are identical at both, so pick the airport closest to your first night's stay.
Yes, with a cross-border permit added at booking. Three permit tiers cover different country sets; the tier 1 permit covers Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia without a Green Card. Wider tiers add Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, EU countries and Switzerland, with a Green Card provided.
Cross-border permit guide →Cars are available from 18+ with 1+ year of driving experience. Per-vehicle requirements vary; an example Peugeot 208 listing requires 21-70 years and 3 years' experience. The booking widget's age and experience filters narrow the fleet to the cars open to you.
Only if your licence isn't in Roman script. EU, UK, US, Canadian and most other Roman-script licences are accepted as-is. If yours uses Cyrillic, Arabic or another script, get an IDP from your home country's automobile association before you travel.
Generally yes. Roads on the coastal strip and main routes are well-maintained. Mountain routes around Lovćen, Durmitor and the Tara Canyon have switchbacks and occasional sections without crash barriers, so a calm pace and lower gears matter. Watch for parked cars in Kotor and Budva old towns.
Free cancellation is available on selected vehicles, marked clearly in the booking widget. 170+ listings carry the tag. On those cars, the full advance payment is refunded if you cancel more than 24 hours before pickup; cancellations within 24 hours of pickup are non-refundable.
Full booking guide →On most cars, yes. The standard cash deposit at pickup is around €100, refundable at the end of the rental. Two filters skip it entirely: "No deposit" (40+ cars) and "No deposit (paid service)" (120+ cars). The Full Coverage Plus insurance tier also waives the deposit.
Yes. Three options on most listings: an infant seat (Group 0+, up to about 1 year, 0-10 kg), a standard child seat for older children, and a booster for larger children. Select them on the vehicle page during booking; the supplier installs them before handover.
Yes. Free city delivery is available on 300+ listings, with the supplier bringing the rental car to your accommodation within the town limits in Kotor, Budva, Tivat, Herceg Novi, Podgorica, Žabljak and other coastal towns. Choose "City delivery" as the pickup point at booking.
Every booking includes the free Minimum third-party liability cover and unlimited mileage on 370+ listings. Insurance upgrades (Basic, Full and Full Coverage Plus) are paid add-ons priced per vehicle. Cross-border permits, child seats, Winter Pack and other extras are optional, selected at booking.
